https://stefano-blando.github.io/en/tags/pisa/PisaHugoBlox Kit (https://hugoblox.com)en-USMon, 18 May 2026 00:00:00 +0000https://stefano-blando.github.io/media/icon_hu_8d0dee6c10a3c598.pnghttps://stefano-blando.github.io/en/tags/pisa/https://stefano-blando.github.io/en/blog/compass-workshop-2026-success/Mon, 18 May 2026 00:00:00 +0000https://stefano-blando.github.io/en/blog/compass-workshop-2026-success/<p>Today, <strong>Monday, May 18th, 2026</strong>, the workshop <strong>&ldquo;COMPASS: Complexity, Markets, Policy, and AI in Social Systems&rdquo;</strong> successfully took place at <strong>Scuola Superiore Sant&rsquo;Anna</strong> in Pisa.</p> <p>It was an intense and productive day, bringing together international experts and young researchers to explore how Artificial Intelligence is reshaping our understanding of complex social and economic phenomena.</p> <h3 id="key-highlights">Key Highlights</h3> <p>The event featured three inspiring keynote lectures:</p> <ul> <li><strong>Prof. Guido Germano</strong> (UCL) on computational methods for complex systems.</li> <li><strong>Prof. Prabhani Kuruppumullage Don</strong> (Penn State) on advanced statistical models for high-dimensional data.</li> <li><strong>Dr. Federica Casarosa</strong> (SSSA) on the legal and ethical implications of AI.</li> </ul> <p>I had the pleasure of co-organizing the event and participating in the discussion on <strong>AI for Complexity and Economic Systems</strong>, where we explored the potential of agent-based modeling and network science in forecasting and policy-making.</p> <p>A big thank you to all the participants, the co-organizers, and the <strong>Scuola Superiore Sant&rsquo;Anna</strong> for hosting this event. We also gratefully acknowledge the <strong>University of Pisa (UniPi)</strong> for the grant for high-impact doctoral scientific initiatives that made this workshop possible.</p> <p>This event represents a significant step in building an interdisciplinary bridge between AI and the social sciences.</p>
